Physical Education and Sports (EPS) in Moroccan Educational Institutions: Performance Factors and Challenges
Abstract
This article examines the importance of Physical Education and Sports (EPS) within the Moroccan educational system, analyzing key performance determinants, various challenges facing EPS, and recent efforts to improve sports facilities and programs in schools. EPS provides not only physical benefits by promoting health and fitness but also psychological advantages by reducing stress and enhancing students' emotional resilience. The paper also explores significant regional disparities, notably between well-resourced urban schools and rural institutions that often lack adequate facilities. Additionally, socio-cultural influences, such as gender norms and societal expectations, play a crucial role in shaping how EPS is perceived and practiced in different regions of Morocco. In conclusion, recommendations are offered to guide educational policies to create supportive conditions for equitable and beneficial participation for all students, regardless of their geographic or social context, aiming for a healthier and better-prepared student population.
