Abstract

This article analyses the role of intercultural dialogue in the development of skills among young people through a case study of the Morocco–Belgium programme ‘Two Worlds, One Future’ (2M1A). In a context characterised by increasing international mobility and intercultural interactions, educational exchange programmes appear to be key drivers in the development of transversal skills. Drawing on the theoretical framework of interculturality, experiential learning and active citizenship, this research adopts an exploratory qualitative approach based on a case study. Data were collected from institutional documents, teaching materials and testimonies from 24 Moroccan and Belgian participants. The thematic analysis highlights three major areas of development: intercultural skills (openness, tolerance, adaptability), soft skills (communication, leadership, creativity) and civic engagement.

The results show that the 2M1A programme provides a non-formal learning environment that fosters the transformation of cultural perceptions, the strengthening of soft skills and the emergence of active citizenship. This study thus contributes to enriching the literature on North–South educational dynamics and offers recommendations for the design of inclusive and effective intercultural programmes.

Keywords: Interculturality, international mobility, non-formal education, skills, youth.
